SHORT TAKES ON THE DRIFTING WRECKAGE – OVERNIGHT:

THIS HAS TO BE STOPPED BY PUBLIC PRESSURE – FROM REDSTATE:  In the latest example of corporate America kowtowing to the Communists in Beijing, internal memos and Amazon.com insiders have revealed the company’s continuing appeasement of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), including colluding with state propaganda operatives to delete reviews of books critical of the regime.  Notably, as reported by Reuters, Amazon caved in like a cheap Mao suit to a CCP edict that it stop allowing negative customer ratings and reviews of the book “Xi Jinping: The Governance of China,” which contains many of Xi’s speeches and writings, as well as other state propaganda.  It gets worse.  Said a company insider, according to Reuters: “I think the issue was anything under five stars.”  Currently, on the Chinese site Amazon.com, the government-published book has no customer reviews, ratings, nor even a working “comments” section, all of which are included on other Amazon.com sites.  The record will show that a number of American corporations collaborated with the Nazis before World War II, and some have been charged by researchers for collaborating during the war itself.  No one gets punished.

CONFRONTING THE MADNESS  – OVERNIGHT:  We are getting warnings every day from prominent physicians that the response to the newest wave of Covid 19 is way over the top.  From Breitbart:   

On Monday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s “Faulkner Focus,” Fox News Medical Contributor and Johns Hopkins School of Medicine Professor Dr. Marty Makary argued that the biggest failure in the coronavirus pandemic response is the failure to tailor policies based on individual risk, and that “those who have chosen not to get vaccinated and have not had COVID, they do so at their own individual risk. We’ve never seen this level of martial law and paternalism to prevent mild infection in 300 million Americans.”

Makary said, [relevant remarks begin around 4:45] “Look, the greatest failure of the pandemic response by public health officials has been the failure to recognize that the risk of this virus is not equally distributed in the population, and while it may have made sense when we didn’t know what we were dealing with to have one simple message for everybody. Now, it has to be custom-tailored. That means if — look, if somebody has no immunity and they’re old and vulnerable, they’ve got no vaccinated and no natural immunity, sure, they need to be very careful. We need to protect those people right now. But the risk in a young, healthy person is very different from somebody in that situation. We’ve never acknowledged that we need to custom-tailor the policies according to the individuals. And those who have chosen not to get vaccinated and have not had COVID, they do so at their own individual risk. We’ve never seen this level of martial law and paternalism to prevent mild infection in 300 million Americans.”

COMMENT:  Well said.  Look, I'm vaccinated.  I'm on the short list to be boosted.  I have nothing against vaccines that work, or at least reduce risk.  But others have individual circumstances and medical histories.  The advice should be to consult your physician. 

Socialists know that the fastest way to power is to promote a crisis, and use it to generate fear.  People understandably turn to government.   We've had the Covid 19 virus with us for two years.  It's being successfully fought.  We know it's not going to wipe out civilization.  And yet we see various establishments acting as if the world were at death's door.

Calm down.  And tell that to the president as well.

REVOLTING – OVERNIGHT:  "Follow the money" is one of the first rules of journalism.  How do you like this money trail?  From bizpacreview.com:  How much do solar, wind and electric vehicle companies get in federal handouts and tax loopholes in President Joe Biden’s Build Back Better bill? Well over $100 billion in taxpayer largesse. If all the tax credits are included, that number could reach half a trillion dollars. No other industry in American history has ever received this lucrative a paycheck.
The folks at the Institute for Energy Research calculated that this is on top of the more than $150 billion in subsidies these industries received from Uncle Sam in the last 30 years.  The umbilical cord to taxpayer wallets never gets cut. Yet, laughably, the left says all these subsidies to “green energy” are necessary for an “infant industry.” Really? Does Big Wind or Big Solar ever grow up? Incidentally, our ancestors were using windmills and solar panels during the Middle Ages.  You may be sure that some of this federal cash finds its way back to Washington in the form of campaign contributions.  But...but...aren't they saving the planet?  No, Virginia, they are not.  They're saving themselves.

FIGHTING BACK – OVERNIGHT:  ONE OF AMERICA'S BEST GOVERNORS TAKES ON THE RACE INDUSTRY.  IF HE PULLS IT OFF, THE FIRST BENEFICIARIES WILL BE CHILDREN OF COLOR.  FROM COLLEGE FIX: 

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis recently unveiled the Stop the Wrongs to Our Kids and Employees Act, or Stop WOKE Act, to oppose progressive indoctrination in schools, higher education and corporations.

The proposed legislation would put into statute a prohibition on teaching critical race theory in K-12 schools and defund money going toward critical race theory consultants at every level of education, including colleges and universities.

“No taxpayer dollars should be used to teach our kids to hate our country or to hate each other,” DeSantis said during a Dec. 15 press conference announcing the proposal.

DeSantis spokeswoman Christina Pushaw told the Washington Post that the legislation is being drafted and is expected to be brought before the state legislature in January.

It would follow a move made in June by the Florida State Board of Education to ban critical race theory in public schools. The amendment added by board members states in part instruction, including regarding critical race theory, “must be factual and objective.”

It also forbids using the 1619 Project for curriculum and states educators “may not define American history as something other than the creation of a new nation based largely on universal principles stated in the Declaration of Independence. Instruction must include the U.S. Constitution, the Bill of Rights and subsequent amendments.”

“Following the passage of the ban on critical race theory, we realized it was a great first step but that it hadn’t gone far enough,” Pushaw told the Post. “We are optimistic about this [proposal] because we do have legislative leaders who are interested in this and support legislative rights.”

DeSantis, in his mid-December news conference, equated wokeness to “a form of cultural Marxism” tearing at “the fabric of our society and our culture.”

“I think what you see now with the rise of this woke ideology is an attempt to really delegitimize our history and to delegitimize our institutions,” he said.

The Stop WOKE Act targets consultants who make thousands of dollars providing critical race theory training to teachers, bringing the ideology to K-12 schools and colleges.

Consultants using the term “equity” to describe their trainings is “just an ability for people to smuggle in their ideology,” DeSantis said.

The legislation would ban school districts, colleges and universities from hiring CRT consultants.

The Florida governor’s office did not respond to inquiries from The College Fix on whether the law applied to private universities.

COMMENT:  There'll be an uproar over this, and the woke crowd will proclaim the end of American freedom, liberty, and the country itself.

DeSantis is gutsy and he is right.  The public schools and colleges belong to the people, not the teachers' unions. The public should have a say in how the schools are run.  Right now, many of them are a disgrace, and do more harm than good.
